Rotor flux monitoring

The most reliable way for detecting shorted rotor poles and ground faults is the Rotor flux monitoring. This system includes a permanently installed flux probe on the stator which monitors the magnetic flux as the pole passes.  Offline testing has some limitations in detecting such faults due to the fact that there are no centrifugal forces in offline testing so a certain short may not occur in standstill and may only be present online.  Working temperature also has significant impact due to the thermal expansion of materials.
